In 1983, a small group of local residents interested in the Clear Lake State Park formed a nonprofit tax-exempt organization. They named it the Clear Lake State Park Interpretive Association. The goal of the Association is to:
The Association maintains a contract with the State of California Parks and Recreation Department to carry out these goals and is regulated by them. A Board of Directors, which meets monthly, governs the Association. A general membership meeting is held annually to elect board members and to update members on the goals, accomplishments and business of the organization. Through annual fund raisers and gift shop sales, the association
